As the summer barbecue season quickly approaches we are going to hear more and more about the Grill Glove. The grill glove has certainly become popular on television and has been put to the test on all those consumer segments on our local news station and they all agree it works. But do people really use it?
The answer is yes, and around my house the answer is an astounding yes. We love the grill glove and because of it we tolerate the darker side of cooking a little better. As a result, we are cooking better meals, and more of them. The darker side of cooking is the the gross stuff. Taking the guts of of a chicken, getting the goo off a roast or simply getting a build up of yuck after handling your food during preparation. Most people just deal with it and never consider the grill glove to be a solution.
First, the grill glove is completely safe for handling food whether it is raw or cooked. It is made from food grade silicone so there is no danger of food contamination. It is also waterproof which will keep the food stuffs from getting onto your hands. The glove design makes it perfect for handling food before it goes on the grill because it is thin enough so you can feel what you are doing yet strong enough to get a nice form grip. It’s great for putting a rub on pork or pulling the skin off of chicken. You can dip your grill glove under the faucet and rinse whatever residue remains so you can go on to cutting your vegetables without missing a put.
The whole point here is convenience. You can put on your grill glove when you start preparing your meal and take them off after you pull the food off your grill or out of your oven by hand. You won’t need basting brushes, tongs, or spatulas. You also won’t need to scrub your hands when preparing a new ingredient because the grill glove rinses so well. So we all no that the grill glove is a heat resistant glove which protects against temperatures of up to 500F. We all know you can quickly reach into a pot of boiling water with your grill glove to grab an egg without getting scalded. But now we know can simply put on our grill gloves while preparing a male and never take them off until we are done. Now that is convenient.
